From ClaimScore to Covalynt: Full-Spectrum Identity Solutions for Class Actions and Mass Torts

Modern litigation is now an identity data challenge where "napkin-style" administrative tools can no longer withstand sophisticated fraud or challenging identity verification. Explore why we’ve evolved from ClaimScore to Covalynt and how our new suite of solutions provides the technical firepower needed to protect the world's largest settlements.

From ClaimScore to Covalynt: Full-Spectrum Identity Solutions for Class Actions and Mass Torts

Since our official launch in early 2023, the legal community knew us as ClaimScore. We built a reputation on a singular, critical mission: providing real-time, AI-driven fraud detection to protect settlement funds.

But as we moved deeper into the trenches of high-stakes matters like the Apple antitrust case and the Meta privacy litigation, our founders realized that fraud was merely the tip of the spear. The underlying issue in modern litigation isn't just "bad claims,” it is a fundamental lack of identity data facility.

The transition to Covalynt reflects our evolution from a fraud detection tool into a comprehensive suite of Identity solutions for class actions and mass torts. While ClaimScore remains a flagship product, Covalynt represents the "covalent bond" between legal expertise and identity data science.

Moving Beyond the "Anti-Fraud" Label

The legal industry typically operates five to eight years behind the technical world. For a long time, class action settlement administration was treated as a clerical task: mailing postcards and cutting checks. However, as claim rates spiked from 1% to over 100% in some consumer cases, it became clear that "manual review" could not stop "bot-scale" problems.

We built ClaimScore to provide an evidentiary framework for fraud, moving away from "black box" scores toward deterministic logic. But as we worked with sector leading attorneys and the leading administrators, they began asking questions that went far beyond fraud:

  • "Can you help us fix these 200,000 undeliverable emails?"
  • "Can you prove this class is actually ascertainable before we go to trial?"
  • "Can you help us structure discovery requests so the defense can't hide behind technicalities?"

These aren't administrative challenges. They are identity data science challenges.

The Apple Inflection Point: Data as a Shield

The decision to rebrand was solidified by what our founder, Don Beshada, calls a "watershed moment" in the Apple antitrust litigation. In that case, a $20 billion class was decertified not because the legal arguments were weak, but because the methodology was not founded in defensible identity data science.

The plaintiffs attempted to match Apple IDs to real people using "napkin-style" administrative tools. Apple—a company built on data science—moved to decertify, arguing that the methodology lacked scientific rigor. The court agreed.

The lesson was clear: if you go to war with a water pistol while the defense has a tank, you will lose. Covalynt was created to be the "tank", built to match the data facility of the opposition. We provide the technical horsepower to ensure that class-wide damages and ascertainability are grounded in science, not guesswork.

The Covalynt Suite: A Unified Approach to Class Action and Mass Tort Data

The rebrand allows us to house our growing suite of solutions under one roof, all powered by our proprietary identity resolution engine:

  • ClaimScore: Our original real-time fraud detection and claim validation system.
  • DeepValidation: Updates incomplete notice lists with class members' latest and most active contact information: emails, phone numbers and physical addresses. Ensuring notice reaches as many class members as possible, in the most cost effective manner. .
  • ClassResolution: Built to solve the "ascertainability" problem by proving a class exists and is reachable through sophisticated identity data enrichment and mapping.
  • Bespoke Data Solutions: Custom engineering for mass tort lead gen, "Quick Pay" advanced settlement financing, and complex discovery consulting.

Lawyering in a Technical World

We believe that in 2026, every class action and mass tort matter is, at its core, a data problem. Success no longer depends solely on being a great "gunslinger" in the courtroom; it depends on being a sophisticated analyst.

Covalynt exists to bridge that gap. We are advocates for accuracy and truth, ensuring that the billions of dollars set aside for class members actually reach their intended recipients. We aren't a claims administrator; we are your data science wingman.
